The role

As a graduate consultant, you will be challenged to learn how to successfully deliver projects under the supervision of experienced consultants - with the goal to be fast-tracked as the next Consultant at Valiantys.

As part of the delivery team, you will support our customers closely throughout the application lifecycle phases of solutions assessment, design, implementation, deployment and delivery of Atlassian's collaborative tools. You will receive comprehensive onboarding training which covers Atlassian solutions: Jira, Confluence, Hipchat, Bitbucket, Bamboo and more. You'll become a certified Atlassian consultant with the confidence to guide customers through the gnarliest deployments.

You will get to the opportunity to rotate throughout different roles, such as project manager, developer system admin, etc. During the last quarter, you'll get to decide in which domain you would like to hone your skills.

As a graduate consultant, you will be working with the following project types:

  • Atlassian instance migrations
  • Upgrades of Atlassian tools
  • Implementing business processes
  • Analysing business requirements and providing solutions
  • Training

Skills and requirements

  • You should have at least a 2:1 predicted at the end of your course.
  • You have excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • You are very organised and can show project management potential.
  • You are familiar with the latest software development methodology & tools (DVCS, CI/CD, Agile, etc.).
  • You have a strong technical grounding in computer science through education or work experience.
  • You have delivered small to mid-size technical projects in a previous role.
  • You do not need development expertise, but good programming skills will come in handy (Java, Javascript, Groovy)

Your graduate programme training:
a year at Valiantys

We've developed a compact and diverse programme which is broken down into multiple rotations. You'll start each unit shadowing our certified consultants and will work your way towards taking ownership of projects. You'll have regular feedback from the team to ensure everyone is on the same page.

Q1: Jira and Jira Service Desk consulting

Jira is one of the leading tools at the enterprise level to manage multiple processes. By the end of Q1, you will get in-depth training of the tool and will be able to consult our customers on their solution. You will be trained to be a fully fledged Jira admin in preparation for the Atlassian certification exam. During this phase, you will report directly to one consultant and will take part in all his/hers projects.

Q2: Technical project management and development

During this quarter, you'll learn how to be the the point person when it comes to managing enterprise-level projects. By working with our project managers, your learn how to interact with clients, schedule days for consultants and manage project follow-up. In the next stage, you'll travel to France to work with our development team and learn how we make apps for the Atlassian Marketplace. You'll get training on basic app development, Atlassian API, groovy scripting, Bitbucket and Bamboo.

Q3: Confluence consulting and system administration

Confluence is one of the leading enterprise-level collaborative tools which is mission-critical for many of our clients. By the end of Q3, you will get in-depth training of the tool and will be able to consult our customers on their solution. You will be trained to be a fully fledged Confluence admin in preparation for the Atlassian certification exam. During this phase, you will report directly to one consultant and will take part in all his/hers projects. As a system admin, you will learn how to set up AWS servers, run database scripts to capture information for audits, setup shell scripts to run automated jobs, troubleshoot performance related issues with servers, setup Data Centers and work on upgrades and migrations.

Q4: Hone your interests

In this quarter, graduates will have the opportunity to concentrate and build upon their area of interest. They will also prepare for two Atlassian certifications, which they will have to pass in order to complete their graduate role within Valiantys.

Step 2

Telephone interview

This is your time to tell us your story! We'd like to hear why you chose this career path, what makes the position at Valiantys appealing for you and what you want to contribute. During this phase we'll be assessing your communication skills and how your personality would fit into our team.


Step 3

Assessment Day

We want to see your work in action. The programme for the day will run as follows:

  • Group interview: This will consist of a quick round the table introduction to understand everyone's background and interest in this role. Following the introduction, you will each be given a set of technical questions to answer individually.
  • Group assessment: Teamwork is the core of our work at Valiantys. During this phase we'll break you down into small teams and run group exercises.
  • Final individual assessment and interview: If we see potential in your candidature, another round of interviews will be conducted with our Team Leader and General Manager.

What are your closing dates for applications?

The closing date is 31 March.

What happens if my application is unsuccessful?

If you are unsuccessful this time, we will still keep your resume on our records in case another opportunity arises. You are of course welcome to reapply to our graduate programme the following year.

Can I receive feedback on my performance during the application process?

We get it - the interview process can be a bit nerve-wracking, so we'd like to make it easier for our candidates to be successful. If you meet us for an interview, we'll give you honest feedback regarding your candidature.

Will I always work in the office that is my base location?

You will be working from the office in London most of the time, however some travel will be required.

What happens after I have accepted my offer?

After our verbal offer has been accepted, you will be supported by our onboarding team who will request the necessary information from you in order to complete your written offer and to make all the necessary arrangements. You'll be sent training material to get you started along with a detailed plan for the year.

Am I guaranteed a job at the end of the programme?

You'll join Valiantys on day one as a permanent full-time employee and your career will continue with us after the graduate programme ends.
